Yhden, based in London, Beijing and Hong Kong, creates global content for international brands. They produce content for the China-Britain Business Council in the form of a monthly digital and print magazine, FOCUS.
Every quarter a print version of the magazine is produced and I am enlisted by Yhden to design the publication inline with a set of existing styles that were implemented by myself when I was first taken on at the beginning of 2016. Along with the quarterly print version of this magazine I also help Yhden with the monthly digital version by uploading articles, choosing relevant images and, where applicable, producing infographics.
As a print publication it is important to ensure that the number of pages is divisible by 4 and it isn’t uncommon to re-address the number of pages articles span over, once designed, to allow for changes in content.
The design of the print publication can take from one to two weeks to turnaround. Often articles can come in last minute and a fast turnaround is required. The digital issue can take up to three days depending on the level of images and/or infographics required.
Predominantly produced using InDesign although some elements are drawn in Illustrator or amended in Photoshop.
The images displayed are a selection of cover and spread designs from the print publication.
