website redesign
London based Main Contractor, 8build, needed to overhaul the design of their website to showcase the different sectors that the company work within and to demonstrate previous experience within these sectors.
The Project
8build’s previous website had been designed and built prior to any responsive frameworks. It was desperately out of date and did not reflect the business today. Having already worked on a newly designed set of brand guidelines, the website needed to be updated inline with these.
Working closely with the Marketing Manager, internal and external surveys were created and issued to staff and clients to identify what key information needed to be incorporated onto the website. Using this information I was able to produce a comprehensive Information Architecture diagram to illustrate the content of the site and the user interaction within the site.
17 templates were designed inline with Bootstrap’s framework, each design demonstrating desktop, tablet and mobile views. Once the development had taken place, 90 case studies had to be added to the new site along with a selection of images for each case study.
Project Timeline
As this was an extensively researched and a meticulously planned project, the overall timeline for this project took place over 6 months.
Skills
I contributed to the planning and the full design (Photoshop) of the project. I also helped import content into wordpress, managed the developer and also managed the overall delivery of the project. I also provided the Marketing Manager with a crash course in WordPress so that they could continue to manage the site’s content.
Project Images
The images displayed show a selection of page designs on various devices. I have also included the Information Architecture diagram for the site.
